DESCRIPTION :
Stunning vintage musical bar / liquor set for 6 persons. In the shape of a royal carriage. And when the central decanter is lifted, the musical box gets activated and the music starts. The air played is the famous “Beer Barrell Polka”, which was a traditional czech melody before being adapted in various countries and languages. In the USA, the Andrews Sisters made the english version that soon became an unofficial anthem of the US Navy during WWII. In Germany, the Bayern Münich FC uses the german tune of “Rosamunde” which is also adapted from the melody. In France, the melody became famous thanks to Annie Cordy’s “Frida Oum Papa” or IAM’s “Ce soir on vous met le feu”.
In gilt and red metal for some parts, plastic for others. Entire liquor set in glass, cut glass for decanter. 2 slots at both ends to store whatever you want, originally designed for decks of cards I think.
Rare and very original set !
1950s / 1960s.
When I found it, there was the label that is visible in the pictures. I can’t guarantee that it is the original label. But if it’s the case, then this object has been produced in West Germany.
